The Waiuku Wing Chun Kung Fu club was established in 2008 for a group of Wing Chun enthusiasts taught and led by the Sifu (teacher) Mark Parry. The club is based in Waiuku - Auckland. Training takes place every Monday and Wednesday. The club was formed when Sifu Mark Parry emigrated to New Zealand in 2007 from Wales, UK. After teaching a few students at his home he decided to open a club which continues to grow. These club members are a mixture of men, women and children, aged from 10 to 50 approx.
The atmosphere of the club is very relaxed and enjoyable. There is no physical training or tournaments. Everything is done to ensure students learn to relax to allow the bodies natural internal energies to be used in conjunction with the Wing Chun techniques. As well as Sifu walking around the class teaching everyone, all the members of the club help each other out by teaching and giving advice on what they have already learnt, especially the more advanced students to assist their own knowledge and understanding of the system.
There is a simple dress code of a club polo shirt with black pants. Anyone interested in the club is welcome to come and have a look and try the system for themselves. The first 2 lessons are free to ensure you get the chance to see Wing Chun and meet with Sifu and the other club members. If someone has decided they want to become a member, they can purchase a white polo club shirt as part of there lifetime membership (No annual membership payments) and asked to wear some type of dark trousers/shorts. As well as any type of casual footwear.
